Step by step guide add new hard drive on windows vista
Finally my friend buy new computer for his home computer. It has memory 4GB, Pentium Quadcore and hard drive 200 GB. Due to his job activity that require large storage he bought new hard drive but he feel confuse since his home computer that use Microsoft Windows Vista don’t show new partition for his new hard drive.
I agree to help him but I prefer to write it in a post ( I make a simulation), I hope others with same problem will get benefit too.
Here step by step guide how to add new hard drive on Windows Vista :
1. Make sure to plug cable data and power for new hard drive.
2. Power On the computer and Enter to Windows Vista.
3. Go to Control Panel, click Administration Tools
Click on Computer Management shortcut.
Choose Storage.
Click Disk Management(local)
3. Initialize Disk
You must initialize a disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it, let system autocheck for Disk 1 and choose MBR for partition style.
Click OK.
You’ll see Disk 0 and Disk 1 present but Disk 1 still unallocated, right click on Disk 1 and choose New Simple Volume Wizard
Click Next.
Specify maximum volume size and click Next button.
Assign Drive Letter or Path
You want to access new partition using standard C, D, E etc. I choose E and click Next.
Format Partition
No data will be store if you don’t format it, choose NTFS for file system then change Volume Label and check on Perform a quick format.
click Next.
New simple volume wizard will give summary of settings, click Finish.
New Volume (E) created with file system type NTFS.
Check using Windows Explorer for new drive.
You can use new drive for storing data beside drive C. Its best recommend to separate between system (windows) on drive C and storing data on other drive.
