How to use Acronis True Image : Create Backup

Always create backup!

That message always located in the manual of our operation. Since last virus attack plus worm that disturb daily operation of customer service. More than half day taken to reinstall the system while data in good location.

Back to home I forget to cleanup my flash disk that contained with virus and accidently remove all photo of my graduate and my uncle wedding. What a day and I’m lucky some of the picture already uploaded to flickr.

No one like to face that problem but when it happen just a few people already prepare to handle that situation. Next time I must prepare to handle it in minimum time as I can and I need a hand.

In previous post I already describe how to install acronis true image home, today I”ll show how to use acronis true image in real word, start from creating backup.

Here the process :

1. Start Acronis True Image from Program menu.

2.Acronis Menu

Acronis will bring a menu, choose ‘Backup’ for create a backup of your data.

3. Data to back up selection.

Choose ‘My Computer’.

4. Partition to back up

At number 1 I highlight area of source of backup, by default I check drive C and it took 9,287 GB. This number will increase as you check other drive to include in backup process.

Number 2 I highlight is place where backup will be store.

Disk 2 is external hard disk with capacity 37,25 BG, make sure to buy bigger capacity if you plan to backup larger data.

Click Next to continue.

5. Target backup archive

Choose ‘Create new backup archive’ in target selection.

Click Browse to set backup location to E ( external harddisk) or simply type E:\MyBackup.tib

Click OK to continue.

Click Next to start backup.

Choose ‘Do not schedule‘ and click Next.

Pick “incremental‘ as backup method.

Click Next.

You may choose to exclude hidden file, folders etc.

Click Next.

6. Backup Options

A lot of backup options available, you may ignore it for first time backup creation.

Click Next to continue.

7. Automatically consolidate backups

let it as is, click Next.

8. Archive Comments

Click Next to start backup.

9. Summary

summary will provide operations that acronis true image home will do. click Proceed to run backup task.

The process should start and you just need to wait.

Take a break, exercise and drink tea would be great. Better to spend your time in backup process and get smile at the end than blame someone for virus spread, malware etc that might happen to your computer.
