How to fix printer spooler problem on Windows XP
Recent Windows XP reinstall make work hard since I forgot to backup computer as I did for my office PC. Rest assured to follow and implement same standard operating on your office and get everything settle in quick move.
Everything is fine except printer. I have two printer, Canon Pixma 145 and HP 3940. Since one of cartridge Canon printer get damaged I’ve forced to use my HP 3940.
First problem is driver, I lost the driver. Not big problem as I can download from hp web by search using keyword ‘download hp 3040 driver‘.
Time to install the driver and I just surprised because I have error message ‘printer spooler problem’, I never see this before so I think I must download other utility to fix it. It’s called FixPrinterSpooler from Microsoft Fix It.
Install the software :

Choose I Agree and click Next.

Check ‘Reset print spooler to defaults‘ and click Next.

Unfortunately Fix Print spooler ‘fix it’ failed to process.
The window give more information tell me this :
“Operation could not completed. The print spooler service is not running.”

Sigh, I don’t know how come the service get disable. Quick fix for this case is :
click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Services ->

Find ‘ Print Spooler’ and click it.

As I See service status : Stopped

click Start button.

The status changed to Started. Click OK.
Try to reinstall driver for HP 3940 and continue with Add Printer Wizard.

Everything work well, as you see I have HP Deskjet 3900 series installed.
