Change file association program
During migration process to Windows 7 some of our staff still using Windows XP as main operating system due to hardware limitation and job concern. A problem came when simple file like .htm or .html cannot opened with browser like Firefox.
Why
Yeah, local virus make this unusual behavior happen. After quick clean all virus get clean and hidden file get restored with little problem. Associated program that used to open this kind of file not work anymore.
Case Reproduce
I’m using one the staff computer as example.
Double click in the file lead me to this screen.
“The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in The Folder Options control panel.”
Solution
Right click on the file and choose Properties.
Click on “Change” button.
Pick program that will handle the file by default.
I choose Firefox as program that will handle .html file.
Click OK.
As you see Firefox icon will displayed as default program. Click Apply.
Repeat the process for .htm extension and try to open the file with double click as usual.
Enjoy the day!
